Have your say! Online voting still open for the 2020 Lysicrates Prize but closing soon

March 9th, 2020

The Lysicrates Prize for playwriting has been awarded for the sixth time – and this was the year for laughs. Every one of the 48 entries was a comedy.

It was standing room only at Sydney Conservatorium of Music’s Verbrugghen Hall for the live performance of the three plays shortlisted for the 2020 prize.

  • No Need to Hide a light When it Shines Like Hers, by Matthew Whittet
  • The Party, by Katy Warner
  • Deoxyribo-Whatever Acid, by Brooke Robinson

Congratulations – and $15,000 – go to Brooke Robinson, whose play secured the most votes on the day.

BUT … even if you couldn’t make it to the Verbrugghen Hall, you can still have your say. After all, the Lysicrates Prize offers ‘theatre for all’!

It’s easy. Just go online, watch the three short plays, and cast your vote.

There is another $5,000 in prize money for the playwright whose play wins the most votes from the online audience.

And when you vote for your favourite play, your name goes into the draw to win $1000.

Your vote counts! Have your say today! The closing date is Friday 11 December 2020. The winner will be announced at noon on Monday 14th December 2020 in the Jubilee Room at Parliament House.
